Gardener’s Cottage

Gardener’s Cottage (pictured right) is a beautifully restored 19th-century hay barn located on the historic grounds of Mathern Palace, a Grade I listed estate dating back to 1408 and renowned for its restoration by Henry Avray Tipping in 1875.

What our guests say

  • Loved our stay at Charlotte's cottage. We stayed for six days as a family of four and the cottage was beautifully furnished and maintained, very homely, warm and felt immediately at home. Plenty of space for parking and close by to Chepstow for going out / restaurants etc. Had a really lovely stay and would highly recommend. Thank you for having us!

  • We stayed with Mathern cottages for the weekend with out 2 young boys. There was walks near by and animals in the field which kept us busy. The accommodation was spotless, well equipped and decorated lovely. Charlotte was great with communication and replied straight away. Couldnt ask for more and hopefully we will return. My son gives it a hundred thumbs up 👍 ❤️
